How To Adopt

The majority of our animals are listed on PetFinder and Adopt-a-Pet, but sometimes some don’t make it to these sites so let us know if you are looking for a specific kind of pet.
We do adoptions at PetSmart in Butler Plaza onArcher Rd in Gainesville, FL every Saturday from 11am to 3:30pm. We have kittens available all week at Millhopper-Petsmart in Gainesville. Adoptions can also be arranged during the week by appointment at our Melrose Center, 8714 State Road 21, Melrose, FL 32666.
The adoption process consists of these steps:
Complete an adoption application. You can fill one out onsite at the event or do it online from our website (just scroll down).
Meet with an adoption counselor, who will help you determine if this is a good match for you, explain our policies, walk you through paperwork, and answer your questions.
The adoption fee for most dogs/puppies is $160 - $300 and $80 - $120 for cats/kittens, but we often have specials on certain animals. We can take cash, check, or credit cards or online payment with a 5% convenience fee.
We do offer a 30 day trial period so that if the adoption isn’t a good match or doesn’t work out for any reason, we will take the animal back and you can opt to get your adoption fee reimbursed.
In most cases you can take home your new best friend the very same day!
